Founded by electricians, Jono and Zak, “The Purple Box” is a live wire cover for temporary use during renovations and alterations for both domestic and Commercial construction projects.
The Purple Box can be installed on top of live cables allowing the mains power supply to remain on safely during renovations and alterations.
It is smaller than a standard power point and light switch allowing other trades such as plastering, sheeting, tiling and painters to finish their work around the outside of The Purple Box safely.

100mm wide by 60mm top to bottom.
This will provide enough room for the tile or gyprock to slide over the top and is the perfect size for a power point to be fit off.
This size cut out also allows for shadow line / slim line plates to be installed which require that slightly larger cut out then a normal “standard” power point
Tape, connectors, connectors with tape, and even junction boxes hanging freely or pushed in the wall boxes fall short of AS/NZS 3000:2018 c: 1.5.4.” A proper enclosure must be used, rated to IP4x and secured in place.”
Unenclosed junctions (connectors) hanging out of the wall are a defect under 1.5.4.4(a) and 1.5.4.4(b). Junction box’s hanging out of the wall on the ends of cables; section (b) covers off on why you can’t have this specifically, and the term used is “shall be firmly secured in place”.
The Purple Box was created in consultation with inspectors and compliance regulators to eliminate this problem and keep contractors from taking unknown and unnecessary risks.
Fines can and have been issued to contractors for not carry out safe work as the above due to falling short of the above requirements!!
YES IT CAN!
We have had The Purple Box extensively tested and certified and it can be used inside of wet areas when silicon is applied around the outside edge and when the screw holes are filled.
When installed as per the instructions The Purple Box can reach an IP rating of IP44.

Nope! Comes no where close
A Blank plate is the same as a light switch or a powerpoint so if you leave that in place a finishing trades will cut out too large around the plate leaving a bad finish. Where as The Purple Box is small large enough to keep the cables coiled up inside but small enough that its cutout is less then a power point or light switch allowing for perfect fit off every time.
PRODUCT UPDATE – NOW INCLUDES HAZARD STICKER
We have updated the product to include warning/ hazard labels so other trades can be held accountable for their actions if they do remove an electrical barrier.
The Sticker can be stuck on at the electricians digression, which includes:
